LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding
LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding is one of the most commonly performed weight loss surgery procedures available. The LAP-BAND® System can help you lose 1-2 pounds per week and has proven highly effective at helping people lose large amounts of weight and change their dietary habits. We will place an elastic band around the upper portion of the stomach, creating a smaller stomach pouch. This will typically allow you to feel full after eating much less food than before. The band is adjustable and removable, and involves no stapling or cutting of the stomach. Plus, the procedure is performed using tiny incisions and small instruments, allowing for less visible scarring and a quicker recovery period. After surgery, if you decide that you would like to further restrict your food intake, or if you would like to be able to eat more food in one sitting, the LAP-BAND® System can be adjusted to accommodate your needs. Significant dietary changes will be necessary after this procedure. REALIZE® Band
REALIZE® Band surgery is another of our adjustable and fully reversible weight loss surgery procedures. This treatment for obesity allows for an earlier feeling of fullness after less food intake by creating a smaller stomach chamber. Like the LAP-BAND® System, the procedure is performed laparoscopically, using small instruments and a camera to visualize the surgical field and relay images to our bariatric surgeon on a monitor. This innovative method allows for much smaller incisions and less visible scarring after the procedure. The REALIZE® Band is wider than other adjustable gastric bands, which can often serve to give you an even greater control of hunger. The band can be adjusted to allow more or less food intake before the feeling of fullness sets in, and it can be removed at any time. REALIZE® Band surgery can help you lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. The procedure will require you to alter your dietary habits for the best results.
