Labiaplasty

Women who are experiencing excess, visible skin around the vaginal opening, causing discomfort and self-consciousness, may benefit from a labiaplasty procedure. Labiaplasty is designed to reduce excess tissue in the labia minora and help you feel more comfortable, in addition to enhancing your self-confidence about the way you look. Dr. Marc Lussier can talk more with you about labiaplasty and explain all aspects of the procedure during your initial consultation here at Town Center Surgery.

An enlarged labia typically results in an excess amount of tissue forming in the vaginal area. It is sometimes caused by recent childbirth, heredity, and/or the natural process of aging. Excess tissue in the labia can make it difficult to exercise, wear certain types of clothing, and engage in intimate activities. Plus, it can have a pronounced effect on a woman’s self-esteem. Labiaplasty is a vaginal surgery procedure that can significantly reduce the excess tissue and resolve many problems associated with an enlarged labia.

Labiaplasty surgery involves the removal of excess skin and tissue in the labia. The remaining tissue is reshaped to make the labia appear smaller and less visible. A labiaplasty procedure is a relatively quick treatment that typically takes less than an hour to complete. There is often no need for general anesthesia during labiaplasty – local anesthesia and a light sedative are usually what most patients require.

Some soreness will be present for a few days after labiaplasty surgery; however, this can be alleviated with medication. Many patients are able to resume normal daily activities after three to five days. Patients should refrain from sexual activity for six to ten weeks after labiaplasty surgery so that the area can heal properly. Any residual scarring from the procedure should be virtually unnoticeable.

Labiaplasty surgery can be a very effective procedure to help women with a very common problem. Please contact Town Center Surgery for more information on labiaplasty, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
