Plastic Surgery Practice in Los Angeles Prepares for Mother’s Day Mommy Makeover Surge

Plastic Surgeon in Los Angeles Discusses Mother's Day Mommy Makeover Popularity

Los Angeles, CA — At his Los Angeles plastic surgery practice, Town Center Surgery, Dr. Marc Lussier says he typically experiences a sharp rise in popularity of mommy makeover procedures before Mother’s Day. A combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, or body contouring treatments, the mommy makeover has become a growing trend in plastic surgery offices across the country. Dr. Lussier says he is anticipating a similar spike in mommy makeover procedures as his patients prepare for a celebration of the sacrifice and beauty of motherhood with the upcoming holiday.

According to recent statistics, over 320,000 mommy makeover procedures were performed on women of childbearing age (20-39) in 2010. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released a similar study showing that, in 2011, breast augmentation has increased by 4% to over 307,000 procedures performed, liposuction has increased by 1% to more than 205,000, and tummy tucks ranked in the top 6 surgical procedures performed with 115,000. Dr. Lussier says the rising demand for breast and body procedures can be largely attributed to the effects of childbirth on a woman’s body, and the desire of many mothers to counteract those changes. In fact, a Babycenter.com survey says 64% of moms say their body image has gotten worse since having children. “

As a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, Dr. Lussier says he sees a significant number of patients at his practice who desire to restore their figure to the way it was before pregnancy and to enjoy the beauty and wonders of motherhood without relinquishing their self-esteem: “The enormous popularity of the mommy makeover is due to its success at correcting post-pregnancy physical changes in a single operation. The primary benefit and desired result for patients is to be happy with what they see in the mirror, and be confident in a bikini on the beach.”

While cosmetic enhancements have previously been associated with high-profile changes and the “bigger is better” mentality, he says most patients are now looking for subtle changes to reveal their natural curves and rejuvenate confidence. Dr. Lussier says he is looking forward to Mother’s Day and the opportunity to help honor the hard work and commitment of mothers at his office by giving them a chance to feel good about their bodies.

While mommy makeovers can offer significant benefits to mothers through safe, effective treatment of problem areas such as the breasts, abdomen, and thighs, Dr. Lussier says patients should be sure to consider the magnitude of their decision by weighing all options and consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon. He says before undergoing any cosmetic procedure, whether it be a full mommy makeover or a breast augmentation in Los Angeles, he recommends conducting extensive research to ensure patients receive the safest and highest quality care available: “The mommy makeover can help patients address everything from sagging breasts to pooches, love handles, and fallen genitals in one operation. Additionally, if done well, it assists in significant weight loss and improved core strength and posture. The before and after pictures are impressive and the results continue to improve over a year.”

Plastic Surgeon in Los Angeles Says Male Plastic Surgery Is On the Rise

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon on the Increase in Plastic Surgery for Men

At his Los Angeles plastic surgery practice, Dr. Marc Lussier says male plastic surgery, including procedures ranging from the non-invasive BOTOX® Cosmetic to surgical enhancements like gynecomastia, or male breast reduction, has been growing in popularity over the past few years. Backed by statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Dr. Lussier says more men are seeking the benefits of plastic surgery to improve their appearance, self-confidence, and chances for success in the increasingly competitive job market.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), plastic surgery among men has risen 2% in the past year to a total of over 1.1 million cosmetic procedures performed. The study shows that certain procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic have seen increases of 9% from 2009, while gynecomastia, or male breast reduction, rose by 6% to 18,280 procedures as one of the top five most popular surgical enhancements for men. Valencia plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Lussier says he has noticed similar trends at his practice as more men have begun to undergo aesthetic procedures. Based on a similar study from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), approval of cosmetic enhancements amongst Americans has now risen above half of the population, which Dr. Lussier says may be a likely catalyst for the increase in demand for male plastic surgery.

While procedures performed on men take up only 9% of the total number of cosmetic procedures performed in 2010 according to the ASPS statistics, Dr. Lussier says he expects that number will grow as the approval rating improves and social stigma against male enhancements diminishes. He says in today’s appearance-driven culture, many men at his practice are turning to plastic surgery procedures such as eyelid surgery to help give them an edge in the competitive job hunt and improve their chances of employment success. With a wide range of subtle enhancements on the aesthetic product market, Dr. Lussier says men have a number of options to choose from that can offer the boost in their appearance they need to improve self-confidence.

Dr. Lussier says facial procedures such as rhinoplasty or eyelid surgery can help restore facial symmetry and give patients a naturally youthful, refreshed appearance. Also, for those patients looking to sculpt their bodies and tone their features, he says liposuction and male breast reduction are popular surgical options that can offer effective solutions to patient needs. “Gynecomastia surgery defines the contours of our male patients’ pecs, giving them a slimmer appearance. They will not only look great at the beach, but also enhance their appearance when wearing slim cut clothing.”

Regardless of which procedures male patients may be looking for, Dr. Lussier always recommends consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon before undergoing any treatment so as to determine the best course of action for the patient’s individual concerns. Through the skilled hands of a qualified surgeon, he says patients can experience the benefits of improved self-confidence and a more positive body image. “If my male patients are self-conscious about the appearance of their chest, I recommend gynecomastia as the right procedure for their cosmetic enhancement goals.”

Valencia Plastic Surgeon Discusses Latest ASAPS Breast Augmentation Statistics

Antelope Valley Plastic Surgeon Discusses Breast Augmentation with Silicone Implants

According to recent statistics released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), breast augmentation was the most popular surgical cosmetic enhancement procedure in 2010. Of the 318,123 performed procedures, the ASAPS study shows that 62% of breast augmentations used silicone implants, whereas only 38% used saline. Antelope Valley plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Lussier says he has seen similar results at his practice. Dr. Lussier discusses the increase in popularity of breast augmentation and overall plastic surgery and the likely reasons behind its higher demand.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Lussier says he has seen a noticeable increase in breast augmentation in Antelope Valley, a fact mirrored by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). In its latest survey, ASAPS reported that there were over 318,000 breast augmentation procedures performed in 2010. Total cosmetic surgical procedures were counted at over 1.6 million, a 9% increase since 2009. Dr. Lussier says the rise in plastic surgery procedures performed, particularly breast augmentation, is likely due to the rise in approval of cosmetic enhancement, now at 51% of the American population, according to ASAPS. Dr. Lussier also adds that patients are beginning to take advantage of recent developments in plastic surgery technology as the economy shows signs of recovery. As new innovations, such as breast augmentation surgery techniques and implant options, emerge in the field, he says plastic surgery will only continue to grow in popularity.

Of the 318,123 breast augmentation procedures performed last year, the ASAPS study reports that 62% of patients elected silicone implants rather than saline. Dr. Lussier says many of his patients seeking breast implants in Antelope Valley are opting for silicone because they offer a more natural look and feel than their saline counterparts. Dr. Lussier says the natural feel of silicone implants has also contributed to the overall growth in breast augmentation and other plastic surgery procedures.

However, as these procedures continue to become more popular, Dr. Lussier adds that patients must be sure to research extensively and consult with an experienced surgeon to find the best option for their individual needs. He says regardless of whether patients are seeking breast augmentation or a tummy tuck in Antelope Valley, plastic surgery demands a strict adherence to quality and ethics, backed by the experience of a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon Discusses Latest ASPS Rhinoplasty Statistics

Plastic Surgeon in Los Angeles Discusses ASPS Rhinoplasty Stats

According to the most recent study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), there were 252,261 rhinoplasty procedures performed in 2010. As the total number of surgical procedures has increased by 2% since 2009 to over 1.5 million according to the ASPS study, board-certified Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Marc Lussier says rhinoplasty at his practice has seen a significant portion of that growth. He discusses ASPS statistics concerning rhinoplasty and cosmetic surgical enhancements as well as the popularity and complexity of the procedure.

At his Los Angeles plastic surgery practice, Dr. Marc Lussier says rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly sought-after procedures. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) confirms his observations in its latest study, reporting that plastic surgeons performed 252,261 rhinoplasty procedures last year. According to the ASPS statistics, rhinoplasty was the second most popular procedure performed in 2010, behind only breast augmentation. Dr. Lussier says rhinoplasty in Los Angeles has become increasingly popular as surgeons continue to perfect the difficult and complex procedure.

Dr. Lussier says the nose acts as a complex facial component, projecting subtle character and personality in a person’s features by lifting visual focus to their eyes. When a patient is unsatisfied with the appearance of his or her nose due to either trauma or natural evolution, he says rhinoplasty can offer a beneficial solution that leaves minimal to no scarring. Through specific and personalized insight into the problem from both the surgeon and the patient, Dr. Lussier also says rhinoplasty can provide a harmonious complement to a person’s natural facial structure. By altering the nasal structure, he adds that surgeons can restore harmony and balance to a patient’s face.

Because of the intricacy and technical nature of the procedure, Dr. Lussier also says rhinoplasty requires an experienced and qualified surgeon for the best outcome. He adds that consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon can help ensure the desired results are achieved, ultimately leading to patient satisfaction and paving the way for renewed self confidence. He says one of the most important attributes to look for in a board-certified surgeon is a dedicated and caring staff, focused on the patient’s individual needs.

Umbilical Hernia Patient Review

The first time I called Dr. Lussier I was in tears. I was scheduled to have surgery in two weeks with another doctor but he had just fired me for annoying him with too many questions about why he wouldn’t file my surgery with my insurance company. He said there was no use, they would never cover any of it. Turns out it was my lucky day! My cousin had just had surgery with Dr. Lussier a few months earlier and kept insisting that I was wasting my time until I came and had a consultation with him. I had already consulted with four other surgeons. The thought of having to disrobe and get pictures for yet another one, three hours away from home, who may or may not know what he was doing, who might painfully jab his finger into my umbilical hernia, well it just drained me to even consider. In a panic that my mother’s flight was booked and my husband’s time off work secured, I called Dr. Lussier’s office. The first person I spoke with was Lana and she instantly assured me that everything would work out and that a solution would be found.

Literally the next day I found myself a nervous wreck in his exam room waiting for him to come in and meet me. Just let me tell you that it is IMPOSSIBLE to feel awkward around Dr. Lussier. He is a huge bear of a guy with the presence of a sweet gentle boy. He sat down across from me, eye to eye, and suddenly realized that the solution to my problem was obvious.

After three babies my abdominal muscles had completely separated all the way from my sternum to below my belly button and I had a huge gaping umbilical hernia. Besides the chronic back and hip pain, I was being asked about three times a week if I was expecting again. Also, I had already had a breast reduction twenty two years earlier and my scarred breasts were a mess. So what does he say when I finally open my robe to get his opinion? “Oh wow, so you’re an athlete!” I just couldn’t believe that as bad as I looked and felt he was instantly able to see the real me. When I told him I had tried out for the Olympics as a teen a couple of times and my real goals were to be athletic again, he smacked his hands together in glee and said, “You’re going to be fun!”

He said that in his experience an umbilical hernia like mine was covered by insurance and perhaps the breast scars would be as well, all we could do is try and find out. Every time he spoke I just felt relief, hope and enthusiasm. He took me on a tour of his spotless and state of the art surgical facility that definitely exceeded my expectations. He made my day after my other surgery was scheduled available with so suddenly my plan was still on track!

Believe me when I say, I would travel a lot further than three hours to have surgery with Dr .Lussier. When I returned his call about last minute questions or concerns the night before surgery, his wife was super compassionate until Dr. Lussier came on the phone. The morning of surgery he exuded confidence, focus and introspection while drawing his map on my body. He spent the entire day putting me back together and did not let me out of his direct radar for an entire month. He made all of his numbers available to me and called me or my caretakers two to three times a day for the first two weeks after surgery. He even came to check on me in the middle of the night on the night of my surgery!

Dr. Lussier is confident, competent, a perfectionist, compassionate, highly skilled, funny, caring, supportive, excited about his work, a gentleman, cutting edge, intuitive, honest, gentle, extremely qualified, and most of all HUMBLE. I wish all surgeons had his demeanor. It’s a little unfortunate that you can’t go see Dr. Lussier when you have a cold or other common ailment because he and his staff have the positive qualities our medical system is lacking.

The insurance company ended up paying for a big portion of the surgery and you wouldn’t believe how great I look. Every other surgeon I consulted with said I absolutely needed to get implants and he never suggested it. When I said the last thing I wanted was implants he said, “OK, so don’t get implants!” My breasts look AMAZING. My tummy doesn’t just look flat and beautiful, the muscles actually work and the hernia is completely repaired. My dreams of being an athlete again will surely be my reality when I am all the way healed which is unbelievable considering how destroyed my abdominal wall was.

It had been a wild ride for sure and every single step of the way I have felt cared for by his fabulous staff and confident that I somehow got lucky and had the best surgeon out there fix me. Every time I have been on youtube after the surgery and see a woman describing her situation and showing her results, I am blown away EVERY SINGLE TIME at how much better I look than she does. I’m talking days after, weeks after, months after, mine ALWAYS looks far superior to anyone out there. Thank you Dr. Lussier for your hard work and expertise and I hope you know how much I appreciate your time and loving attention.

Facial Aesthetic Treatments Evolve

By, Marc Lussier, M.D.

A quiet revolution has developed in facial aesthetic care. Contemporary treatments combine the strengths of fillers, peels and surgery. Each treatment has strengths and applications best suited to facial regions. When combined, a more natural result is expected.

At Town Center Surgery, Dr. Marc Lussier applies this principle to offer “aesthetic packages” to simplify the process of procedure selection.

By utilizing these state-of-the-art techniques you will achieve the result you’ve hoped for at a more affordable cost and with less down time.

1 Surgery, 1 Cost, 1 Recovery, 1 Great Result:

The Eyes Have It ~ Focuses on aging of the Forehead, Upper and Lower Eyelids
A personalized combination of procedures including surgical eyelid and/or brow lift, micro-fat transfer and peels refresh the eye area and restore a more youthful appearance to the most expressive features of your face.

The results of eye procedures are often dramatic. Tired eyes are transformed after surgery into brighter, wider and more refreshed looking eyes.

A Little Lift Please ~ Focuses on aging around the Face, Mouth and Nose
The combination of tightening skin along the jaw line and around the nose and mouth with a mini facelift and peel is the perfect way to keep a smooth, natural appearance in your mid-face. These procedures do not enhance the neck.

Keep Your Chin Up ~ Focuses on aging of the Face and Neck
Traditional lifting combined with liposuction and micro-fat transfer to add volume may be just what you need to achieve the ultimate in facial rejuvenation.

The Eyes Have It

By Marc Lussier M.D., F.A.C.S., Plastic Surgeon

Of all of the many cosmetic surgical procedures available, in my mind the most exciting of these is the rejuvenation of the appearance of the eyes. Your eyelids are one of the first facial features to give away your age and more importantly, rejuvenation of the eyelids is one of the easiest, most efficient procedures to improve the appearance of facial aging.

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty) can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both. In the upper eyelid, the crease is lifted by removing an ellipse of skin and excess fat from above. The result removes the overhanging skin while restoring the graceful skin-fold above the lash line.

There are a number of approaches for treating the lower eyelid.

  • The most commonly used technique is to remove only the excess fat from behind the eyelid, leaving no visible scars.
  • A more comprehensive approach is used when there is both excess skin and fat. The incision is placed just below the lower eyelashes and the excess skin is removed to tighten the lower eyelid.
  • The most sophisticated approach involves the removal of the excess skin and fat and micro fat transfer to the area between the cheek and eyelid (known as the tear trough). This procedure is used to blend the contours. The result is an extremely natural look.
  • Finally, a cosmetic peel to the skin will refresh the overall look.

The results are often dramatic. Tired eyes are transformed after surgery into brighter, wider and more refreshed looking eyes.

Your Next Step to a Youthful Appearance

Many of us approaching “middle age” look in the mirror every day and see the signs of aging that we never thought we would.  Drooping eyelids that make us look tired and older than our years, lines around the mouth that get deeper with each passing month, all of these things point to the need for action.

We are hopeful that we can do things on our own to reverse those telltale signs of aging and so we buy expensive skincare and get mild facial treatments.  These things work for a while but eventually we know we have to take the next step:  plastic surgery.  While you may never have thought you’d be uttering those two words, I am here to tell you that the world of plastic surgery and facial rejuvenation has evolved so much over the last few years.

Today’s plastic surgeons are striving for a more natural look with a goal to target the specific areas of the face that need addressing rather that to perform one large procedure for the entire face.  We know that patients want minimally invasive procedures with less downtime and softer end results, and we are able to give that to our patients with specialized procedures and techniques to address different areas of the facial structure.

Brow lifts, upper eyelid lifts, lower eyelid lifts, temporal lifts, mini facelifts, facial implants, fat transfer, liposuction of the lower face and neck regions are just a few of these procedures that I perform on my facial surgery patients to achieve a youthful, natural appearance.  Our patients are thrilled with their results because we make it easy.

For more information about taking the next step to address your individual facial rejuvenation needs, please call our office to schedule a complimentary consultation at 661-260-3021.
